For the last 75 years, County Fair Foods has been serving fresh produce and an abundance of stock, with hard working managers and great employees that make the atmosphere at the grocery store feel friendly and comfortable.
Mike Winkler, a long time manager at County Fair, believes there are many reasons customers love the store. Mike said, “People love to shop here because the store is clean, friendly, has a knowledgeable staff and always has fresh and high quality product.”
Perhaps this is why the Beverly community is so obsessed with the store. And when I say “obsessed” I mean it – literally.
Many customers strive to obtain a “Billy Buck” with every shopping spree. This “Billy Buck” is given when a shopper spends over one hundred dollars at the store in one purchase. It is a five dollar coupon named after the original founder Bill Baffes.
Aside from the Billy Buck, County Fair’s Produce department supplies an abundance of vegetables and fruits, the deli provides excellent varieties of cheese, meat and salads, and the meat department carries all kinds of fresh meat and fish. Long time customer Margaret Blade even said, “The steaks at County Fair rival that found in Chicago’s best steakhouses.”
One benefit that County Fair has over other grocery stores is that it is a small business and has great employees. Head cashier Katie Bradford believes this, too: “The community likes County Fair because it is family friendly, has great customer service, and is a small business so we can give the customers our full attention.”
County Fair Foods has an almost cult-like following, and it is easy to see why. From the managers to the employees, the produce to the deli, the store is always friendly and helpful.
