On Dec. 8, senior Nick Chimera had a release party for his first book, “The Crusader,” at Chimera’s Comics in Oak Lawn. Nick’s brother Carmelo owns Chimera’s Comics. The signing was publicized by Nick and Brother Rice.
There were many Crusaders there to support “The Crusader.” Senior Matt Reidy said, “When I got there, I was amazed to see so many people supporting a fellow Crusader.” There were people there, including Nick’s fellow Kairoians, fellow seniors, Nick’s family, Mr. Creed, and THE Jim Antos. It is amazing to see how the Brother Rice community comes together to support a fellow Crusader.
Many of the Crusaders were amazed to see a fellow classmate wrote a book. Senior Aidan McGuire said, “It is nice to know we have people in class with these different interests.”
Matt Reidy said, “I think it is cool that someone in our class is an aspiring author.” Nothing but good things have been said about Nick, and many people in the Brother Rice community are proud of what Nick has done.
Nick has been working on “The Crusader” since freshman year. Nick said he got his publishing deal in the summer going into his junior year.
Nick said, “I am definitely planning on writing more.” Nick also said his dream is to turn his book into a movie. He is majoring in communications, and then plans to get a law degree.
Nick is an amazing example of what it means to be a Crusader. He turned that name into a book that makes Brother Rice proud.
