I saw “Creed 2” for the same reason many people saw it – to continue the legacy of the “Rocky” franchise.
“Creed 2” main characters include Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago, and Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago.
This movie takes place three years after the first installment. It starts off with Adonis becoming a world champion and being thrown farther into stardom. Adonis is face with a huge challenge – to face Ivan Drago’s son. Ivan Drago is known for killing Apollo Creed in the film “Rocky IV.”
Eric Diaz had an opinion on the new installment. He said, “’Creed 2’ was great. I wanted more training montages that the ‘Rocky’ films were known for. It would have made the film complete.”
Noel Cervantes said, “I think ‘Creed 2’ could have had a better build up. It felt too rushed towards the end.”
“Creed 2” did lack the finesse that “Rocky IV” had with training montages, but we have to take into consideration that this is a new franchise. Though -t may have seemed fast-paced to some, it was still a great film.
The main themes in “Creed 2” were love, family, and self-determination. Director Steven Caple Jr. has taken over the Creed franchise from its predecessor Ryan Coogler. I enjoyed these themes because Caple made the process Adonis went through believable. I am looking forward to seeing more from Caple.
I recommend this movie to all who want action, comedy, and romance. “Creed 2” has moments for everyone to enjoy and a surprising ending. If you have the chance, go out and watch it; it will give you an insight into a boxer’s life.
