We are in the midst of fall, and you know what that means! Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping, and the jackets are coming out.
Do you know what this also means? The school year is in full swing! With the end of the first quarter, freshmen are starting to get their feet wet and adapting to the change that high school brings. Mother McAuley freshman Mia Braschi said, “Coming from a small grammar school, the change that high school has brought has been big, but I have adapted well. I have met new people and tried many different things at McAuley.”
On Thursday, Oct. 29, Brother Rice hosted its annual Brother Rice-Mother McAuley Freshman Mass. Fr. Mark Walter said the mass focused on welcoming first-year students from both schools. “It was a nice way to meet people from Mother McAuley and get closer to God,” said Brother Rice freshman Henry Hynes.
The Lyrical Fight Club was in attendance alongside some of Mother McAuley’s students. Mother McAuley freshman Grace Novick said, “I like how we were able to sing in the choir with some Brother Rice students. It made us feel like we were really apart of the mass.”
Following the celebration, a reception (including milk and donuts galore!) allowed students to experience the “best of both worlds”. “The reception after the Freshman Mass was fun because I was able to meet new people from Brother Rice,” said Mia Braschi.
