The South Side Irish Saint Patrick’s Day Parade has been a big part of Chicago’s culture, and the Brother Rice Band is an important part of the experience. It has been tradition for many years and is a beloved sight by many of the parade’s attendees. The Band marched from 103rd and western to 115th. Brother Rice Band member Anthony Rangel said, “We played the ‘Galway Piper’ and the drum cadence while we marched.” Another band member, Jonathan Sanford-Coleman said, “The South Side Irish was probably one of the best parades we marched in. No rain, snow, and it wasn’t too cold.” The Brother Rice band plays a key role in the annual parade and will be enjoyed for many years to come.
